We are very happy to be organising ICPS-07 in London – the UK ’s largest city. It is the seat of the country’s government and home to over 8 million people.
In 2005, the ICPS-07 organising committee bid to hold the conference in London for several key reasons:
London is home to many prestigious universities and academic institutions and several internationally important physics departments. We wanted to host ICPS in an environment where physics research and education is encouraged and to share our country’s strong heritage of innovation and discovery in the subject.
London is an extremely popular international tourist destination offering a wide range of famous land marks, museums, theatres, hotels and other attractions. We wished to share these exciting opportunities with our international counterparts.
London is also proud of its wildly multi-cultural populace, which reflects ethnic and national groups from around the world. We wanted to invite our delegates to a city that would welcome them as more than just a tourist.
London has its disadvantages that cannot be ignored – it is one of the most expensive cities in the world and has strict regulations relating to the proper management of conferences and similar events. That’s where we come in!
The organizing committee has already worked very hard with our fellow organizers and sponsors to bring ICPS-07 to life and we will continue to do so until the end. We believe that London is the best choice for ICPS this year and we are certain that, by the time you leave, you will too.
