ICPS 2007 About Us

About Us
About Us

The ICPS-07 organising committee is a group of enthusiastic student volunteers from across the UK and voluntary members of the UK IAPS national committee – Nexus. They are all student physicists and many of them are already heavily involved in their student physics societies at university.

Nexus

Nexus is the national committee for both the UK and Ireland to IAPS and the student wing of the Institute of Physics. It boasts over 10 000 undergraduate and postgraduate members, making it one of the largest young scientists’ networks in the country.

The Institute of Physics

The Institute of Physics is the UK based scientific membership organisation devoted to increasing the understanding and application of physics. It has an extensive worldwide membership (currently over 34 000) and is a leading communicator of physics with all audiences from specialists through government to the general public. Its publishing company, IOP Publishing, is a world leader in scientific publishing and the electronic dissemination of physics. It is proud to operate a dedicated student wing, Nexus, for it’s undergraduate and postgraduate members.

IAPS

IAPS is a student run association, which aims to unite physics students from across the globe. It was founded as a direct result of international student interaction at ICPS and has assumed responsibility for the annual organisation of the conference ever since, which it does by allocating the organisation of the event to one of its national/local committees each year. IAPS also organises international trips for physics students and facilitates cooperation between its various members around the world.
